Biography
As a proud graduate from Chicago Public Schools, I am most honored to serve as the Assistant Principal at Simpson Academy for Young Women (SAYW) under the wonderful leadership of my Principal, Ms. Velasquez. My educational background consists of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology with minors in Early Childhood Education and Women’s Studies from Stephens College, a Master of Science Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Illinois Institute of Technology, a Master of Science Degree in Educational Leadership from Concordia University. I currently hold an Administrative Certificate as well as a certificate in School Counseling, which is the role I started my career in over 15 years ago. While working as a Professional School Counselor, I received an Oppenhemier Award in 2008, and I was honored with the prestigious RAMP (Recognized ASCA Model Program) award in 2010. Since starting my career, I’ve had the pleasure of working as a Professional School Counselor at Orr High School and Michele Clark High School before coming to SAYW, where I worked for a year as the counselor before being promoted to Assistant Principal. I absolutely love my job and my role here at SAYW. I love being able to be a positive role model for all the girls as well as being one of their biggest advocates.
